Terms of use

These terms cover the free use of Watt Riders, the indoor-cycling game at https://wattriders.app and the iPhone app that uses the same service. The operator is Filip Sokolowski, Zaubzerstraße 37, 81677 München, Germany, a private individual (Einzelunternehmer). By using the game, creating an account, or signing in, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the game.

1. The service is free

There is no price, no subscription, and no in-app purchase. As a small business under § 19 UStG we do not charge VAT and we do not show VAT, because we do not charge you. WAT inside the game is not money. It cannot be bought, sold, or paid out. The game may change or stop. There is no promise that a feature, a route, or a saved career will remain available.

2. Accounts

The game requires an account. Sign-in on the website and in the iPhone app uses Clerk, with Google or Sign in with Apple. There is no password on the Watt Riders account. You are responsible for what happens under your handle. Do not impersonate another person. Names, handles, and bios must not be unlawful or abusive. We may rename or close an account that does that.

3. Fair play

Leaderboards and live rooms are shared with other players. Do not fake power, cadence, results, replays, or calls to the API in order to take a place you did not ride. We may remove results and accounts that do.

4. What you say and what you send

You may set a name, a handle, a short bio, and a photo, and you may speak in a live room when voice is available. Do not use them for anything unlawful, hateful, or harassing, and do not put other people’s private information there. Voice is relayed live. We do not record it. You allow us to show your handle, your display name, and your results inside the game, including on leaderboards and in rooms, for as long as the account exists. Deleting the account ends that. You keep the rights in a photo you upload. You confirm that you may use it.

5. Sponsors

Names in the shop may be placeholders or, later, real sponsors. They are not an offer to sell you anything, and the game has no real-money checkout. We do not give a sponsor your account. A sponsor placement does not change the fact that the game is free.

6. Exercise and equipment

Indoor cycling is physical exercise. It is not medical advice and the game is not a medical device. Consult a doctor before you train, especially if you have a condition that exercise could affect. Train within your limits and at your own risk. Stop if you feel unwell, dizzy, or in pain. Put the trainer on a stable surface, follow the trainer maker’s instructions, and keep children and pets clear of moving parts. Power, speed, and gradient figures can be wrong. Do not rely on them for health decisions.

7. Availability and other companies

The game is provided as available. We do not owe a particular uptime. Outages of providers we do not control (including Vercel, Neon, Mapbox, Google, Apple, Strava, LiveKit, and the maker of your trainer) are not a breach by us where we are not at fault. The same applies to force majeure, including widespread network or power failure and official orders, for as long as it lasts.

8. Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, for a defect we fraudulently concealed, for a guarantee we expressly gave, and under the Product Liability Act.

For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual duty: a duty that makes the contract possible in the first place and that you may regularly rely on. In that case the liability is limited to the damage that was typical and foreseeable when you started using the game.

These limits also apply to people who help us perform the contract. They do not change any liability that the law does not allow us to limit, including mandatory rights of consumers.

9. Ending use

You can stop at any time. Delete the account from Profile, or email hello@storyflux.app, as described in the privacy policy. We can suspend or close access if you seriously break these terms, including by cheating or by unlawful content, and we can stop offering the free game. There is no fee to refund.

10. Law and courts

German law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you habitually live (Art. 6 Rome I). Where the law allows a place of jurisdiction to be agreed, it is Munich. We do not impose a court on a consumer where the law forbids it.

If one clause is invalid, the rest stays in force.

11. Consumer dispute resolution

We are not willing and not obliged to take part in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

The former EU platform for online dispute resolution (OS platform) was discontinued by the European Commission on 20 July 2025 (Regulation (EU) 2024/3228).

Nutzungsbedingungen

Juli 2025 eingestellt (Verordnung (EU) 2024/3228).
